Amalfi Holdings Ltd (“Amalfi”) was formed in 2005 to own and manage Amalfi Underwriting Ltd (AUL) a specialty managing general agent writing 4 core lines of business on behalf of carriers in Lloyd’s and the London Company market. Amalfi is a fully authorised Lloyd’s coverholder and has authority to underwrite some $35m of income per year. Amalfi also owns and operates a claims management company in California that handles claims for the core lines of business.

The Amalfi model is designed to allow talented underwriting teams, conforming to Amalfi’s underwriting criteria, to become principals in their own businesses through equity participation. Amalfi sources the necessary infrastructure and licences as well as a control environment from Spectrum Group which is a fully authorised Lloyd's managing agent with full FSA permissions. Amalfi also arranges capital for the new venture.
